Sometimes I have to click twice on a product to go to page?

I’m using the Horizon theme on my store, buckeyestargazer.com

Sometimes I need to click twice on a product image before it takes me to the product page. I have disabled hover images and cleared browser cache, but it still happens randomly. I can’t figure out a set pattern that causes it. Sometimes it goes on one click, sometimes it requires a second click.

Any idea why?

I checked it and it seems to be working fine. Did you try it on incognito mode? When you test it with your admin account, you see a black bar at the bottom. It might be causing the problem…

I’m only noticing it on a desktop browser and it happens mainly after the page loads. After the first interaction it doesn’t happen again. When it does happen I don’t see anything at all upon first click.

Check your site in Incognito mode. If it works correctly there, it means the issue is being caused by a browser extension or an outdated script. If this issue is also occurring in Incognito mode, then please let me know.

I just checked in incognito mode and the same problem still occurs.

What’s Actually Causing the Double Click Issue
In Horizon, product cards often have multiple interactive layers stacked on top of each other

The Proper Fix

We force the product image link to always win and stop Horizon from hijacking the first click.

Add this to assets/base.css:

.card__media a,
.card__media {
  pointer-events: auto;
}

.card {
  pointer-events: none;
}

.card__media,
.card__media a,
.card__content {
  pointer-events: auto;
}

This ensures:

  • The <a> tag always receives the click
  • JS wrappers can’t block navigation
  • One click = product page

Unfortunately this didn’t work. I added the code to the end of base.css and I’m still seeing the problem. Interestingly, this only seems to happen in Chrome. It do not see the problem with Firefox or Microsoft Edge.

I just wanted to bump this up. I have not been able to fix this. The really strange part is that the need to double click only happens in Chrome, not in other browsers like Firefox or Edge.

Anything else I can try? It’s not a huge problem but I find it annoying.
