It’s almost 2024, and we still don’t have the basic option n Product admin to sort by Price or display price. I believe the team at Shopify wants it the hard way for the admin.
Topic summary
Users are requesting the ability to sort products by price directly in the Shopify admin panel’s product list view. Currently, no native price column exists alongside existing filters like inventory, type, and vendor.
Shopify’s Official Response:
- A support representative suggested using the bulk editor as a workaround: select products, click “Edit Products,” and ensure the price field is visible
- Alternatively, users could tag products by price and use third-party bulk editing apps like Bulk Product Edit by Hextom or Bulk Editing by Booster Apps
Community Frustration:
- Multiple users express strong disappointment that this basic feature remains unavailable after 3-5+ years of requests
- Merchants with large inventories (1,500-3,000+ items) find manual workarounds extremely time-consuming and impractical
- Users note competitors like Etsy and eBay offer this functionality automatically
- Several participants report considering switching platforms due to this limitation
- One user suggests creating collections to sort by price, though others dismiss this as insufficient for bulk operations
Current Status:
As of Winter 2024, the feature has not been implemented. The discussion remains unresolved with no official commitment from Shopify developers to add this functionality.
I can not believe that there is no way to sort the products by price! Please add this feature to the admin panel!
Create a collection and on collection page you can sort by price.
yes there is create a collection and include all your products or you create say cost from 1 to 10 and sort it out in lower/higher price in the collection page in admin or include all your products in one collection then go to collection page and sort low to high
Using the bulk editor for pricing is not effective when you can’t sort by price first. You’d have to make price changes one at a time. How is this not a simple filter??
Thanks but that is a useless work-around and users at Shopify are tired of having to use cumbersome work-arounds for what should be basic functionality. Your solution does nothing for the users above that want to sort by price, then select based on price (say all products less than $10), then bulk edit those prices (say change all to $15). There should be a way to directly select products based on price criteria, ie a range of prices, or greater than a price, or less than a price etc.
100%
Winter 24 upgrade is here and still no basic price filter option for the admin. Wow.
This thread is several years old and it is time to find new hosts for our sites. Anyone out there with any recommendations for a company that provides the services we need?
This is a ridiculously-labor intensive work-around.
I need to import 3000 items to Shopify and you are telling me I need to manually enter the price of each item to be able to do what I can do AUTOMATICALLY on eBay or Etsy.
I will be looking for a new host as this link is several years old now and your lack of action on this issue implies an absolute contempt for the people paying your bills.
Too much work! It is automatic with Etsy and eBay. Isn’t Shopify supposed to be an alternative to such sites and an actually step-up?
I would suggest WordPress. You can literally do anything you want as you have access to all the code (frontend & backend). My client is using Shopify and boy, it gets expensive to have to buy all the application plugins to make your site function the way you want.
WoW I posted this on 06-17-2022 too funny GG Shopify…
It would only take a half way decent Shopify programmer 10mins at most to add this option/function to the app.
All the code is there just need to couple lines of code to add it.
But hey lets add new features that no one cares about and leave out the basic stuff that every customer would love to see so our customers have to pay even more for the famous Shopify reply “Just get another addon to fix it”.
Heck they did an update not too long ago and broke one of their basic features and it will probably never get fixed. lmao
STILL NOT POSSIBLE…
Granted, Winter Edition 26 was good, but if Shopify had spent 1% less time on the flashy website this and 10 other basic necessities could’ve been fixed. Now I can chat with Sidekick, which can query my inventory (with limited accuracy), and… I still can’t do anything about it without stupid hacks because I can’t sort by price OR run a report on products. STUPIFY.
