Split order fulfillment based on complex dynamic conditions

Hi, I’m trying to solve a bit of a complex problem so I will try my best to explain it:

We have 1 product (let’s call it product x) that our main 3PL provider cannot ship, so we send them out via private courier or other services like zoom2u. These are stocked at locations in major cities along with some popular products so that if all products are available, delivery will be handled by 1 location (We will call this a product x warehouse) rather than just product x and a second fulfillment/shipping cost for everything else.

Product x warehouses only deliver to a range of post/zip codes in their locality.

The problem we face, is we would like to prioritize our 3PL provider at all times unless product x is in the order. Then we want to only have product x warehouses that can deliver the product (postcode restraints) to get priority and then anything they don’t have in stock falls back to our 3PL Provider.

Our 3PL provider uses Starshipit. Let me know if there is anything else you might need to know if I have left any info out.

Hey I run a 3PL called OTW Shipping. Not sure exactly how StarShipIt works, but there are a number of tagging apps that can probably tag orders only if all of certain products (stocked at product x warehouses) are in the order. Your 3PL may not be able to only sync orders based on tags though.

You can use Order Fulfillment Guru to assign order line items to specific providers (i.e. locations) based on complex rules such as shipping address (including postal code) and inventory availability. The setup is really easy - takes about 2 minutes.
