Split Shipping between Local Delivery and Standard Shipping Methods

Greetings,

We’re facing an issue on Split Shipping when it contains Local Delivery and regular shipping.

Our store sells two type of food products:

A. FROZEN products

B. DRY products (products sold at room temperature)

For FROZEN products, we can only deliver them through Local Delivery, restricted in cities/locations that we have our own warehouse/storage facilities.

As for DRY products, we can deliver them nation wide, in the whole country, using regular shipping methods/carriers.

We’ve enabled Split Shipping for when clients have both type of products in their cart/checkout, and if client is within Local Delivery postal codes, the shipment should split between the FROZEN product to be delivered with Local Delivery and the DRY product to be shipped separately.

But the issue is that when this scenario happens, Shopify sends a message in checkout claiming that the FROZEN product is unavailable for the clients location, and this is not true, the product is always available.

Having said that, Split Shipping function is not working when Local Delivery is involved, I believe. And that’s a major down side that prevents our growth and decreases our margins.

So my questions are:

  1. is there a workwaround this issue?
  2. Will Shopify fix this so we can properly use Split Shipping with Local Delivery?

Kind regards.

This is a Shopify limitation, not something you set up wrong.

Split shipping works for shipping rates, but native Local Delivery doesn’t really mix with regular shipping in the same checkout. That’s why Shopify shows the frozen item as “unavailable for your location”. So basically there is no real native workaround. Best options are either make customers place 2 separate orders, or use an app/custom rate setup so the frozen delivery is treated like a shipping rate by postcode instead of Shopify’s native Local Delivery.
