SSN for Account Holder

Topic summary

A user is setting up their first US-based Shopify store after previously configuring stores in Europe. They’ve encountered a payment setup issue requiring the Social Security Number (SSN) of the “Account Holder.”

Key Question:
Even though they’ve already entered the company’s Tax Identification Number (TIN) for their Private Company, the system is still requesting an SSN.

Main Concern:
They’re questioning whether the CEO must provide their personal SSN to proceed with the payment setup, which seems unusual given the business entity structure already has a TIN on file.

Hello Everyone. We’re currently setting up our Shopify Store. I did set up a few in Europe before but the first for the US. If I add the Payment it asks for the SSN of the “Account Holder” even if it’s a Private Company and there I did enter the TIN already. Is that really the way to go that the CEO has to enter his SSN? Thx, Thomas.
