I used this star block in my product pages from the Sectio Store application and I have a problem: the stars are not dynamic. Each product should have its own stars (rating) and that is not possible if this block is not dynamic. I have an option of creatind a template for each product I have, but I have way too many products for that. Any recommendation/solutions?
Hello @Jas0n
If your Sectio Store star block is static, an alternative is to use Shopify’s product metafields or a review app that has support for dynamic product specific ratings. Most review apps will associate ratings to each product, and show them using app blocks or theme code without the need to create separated templates. You can also see if Sectio Store has dynamic sources for that block in the theme editor. Then one product template can show the right rating for all products automatically.
First, check your theme editor. Click on that star block and look for a “connect dynamic source” icon. If you do not see it, you should reach out to the Sectio Store developers and ask them to help you link it properly.
If they cannot fix it, the easiest solution is to simply use a different review app. Most standard review apps from the Shopify App Store use dynamic product metafields automatically. This means you only need one default product template, and the app will instantly show the correct star rating for each specific item without any extra work.
the metafield route tim mentioned is the right call if you want to keep that specific block. most review apps store ratings in product.metafields.reviews.rating so you just connect it as a dynamic source in the block settings.
honestly though if you’ve got a lot of products it might be less headache to just use your review app’s own star widget instead of trying to make a third-party block play nice. judge.me and loox both have their own rating displays that update automatically without any manual metafield wiring.
