Stock adjustment - outside sales

Topic summary

A merchant operates both an online Shopify store and sells at craft markets (offline). They need to adjust inventory levels in Shopify to reflect external sales made at craft markets.

Key Issue:

  • No suitable stock adjustment reason exists for regular sales (only options like “promotion” or “donation” are available)
  • Seeking a way to properly track these offline sales with monetary value for reporting purposes

Suggested Solution:

  • Create a custom payment method labeled something like “Sales External to Shopify”
  • Process offline sales as orders through Shopify using this new payment method
  • This approach would maintain accurate inventory levels while preserving sales data and monetary values

Technical Context:

  • Merchant is using the Dawn theme
  • Discussion remains open for additional solutions or confirmation

I have an online store which has all my inventory on it. I also sell at craft markets which is not linked to my Shopify store.

There is no adjustment reason like sale (only promotion or donation) that would be the closest reason for external sales.

I am using the DAWN theme.

How do I adjust my stock levels to indicate a full sale? with monetary value for reports or is that not possible?

You could create a new payment method call it something like “Sales External to Shopify” then put the orders through shopify using this new payment method.
