Stock control, keeping stock off shopify with mintsoft fulfilment software

Topic summary

Issue: After moving fulfillment to a warehouse using Mintsoft (warehouse management software), inventory is auto-synced to Shopify as soon as it’s received/approved, removing the ability to hold inventory back while keeping product pages live for timed launches.

Previous workflow: Keep product pages live with zero stock, then add inventory at a specific time via the Shopify Transfer function.

Tried workaround: Use two locations and delete units in the Mintsoft-linked location. This works but requires transferring stock back at launch and risks sync mismatches with the Mintsoft stock file.

Requirement: Keep product pages live to collect out‑of‑stock (OOS) email signups, but prevent purchasing until launch. Ideally, have Shopify display stock from a single location as 0 even if other locations have stock.

Suggested solution: Create an alternate product template that removes the Buy/Add-to-cart button. Keep pages live (OOS signup still works). At launch, bulk switch products back to the original template.

Status: No native setting identified to restrict display by location; template-based approach proposed. Resolution pending; OP has not confirmed adoption.

We have recently moved our stock to a fulfilment warehouse who use Mintsoft to control their stocks. Before the move we would have a product page live prior to stock units being added to shopify. We would then launch at a specific time and add the stock via the transfer function.

Now our stock is managed through Mintsoft, it is automatically added to our shopify site as soon as the stock is received / approved at the warehouse. This means we can no longer launch at a specific time whilst always having the page live which is a key part of our business model. How can we keep the stock off the website until we are ready to launch whilst keeping the page live?

We have tried using two locations and deleting the units in the one that the fulfilment centre is linked to. This works however we would then need to transfer the stock back when we wanted to launch and there is a chance it won’t sync correctly / the units we upload don’t match the mintsoft stockfile.

Does anyone have a suggestion to help us recover some control of our stock prior to launch? Ideally it would be good if shopify could only display the stock in a single location even if that stock is set to 0.

Thanks so much

Why don’t you have an alternate product template?

For all the products that are yet to be launched, have a product template without a buy button.

Once the stock is in, just select a whole new section of products and bulk edit them to the original template.

There is an element of manual work involved in it. But seems like a better solution than fiddling with actual qty and multiple locations.

without a buy button. When you are ready, make a flip of product page to actual and

I should have added that prior to launch we have the product page set to live so people can sign up for out of stock alert emails which we know help to drive sales

I should have said that customers can currently sign up to out of stock
alert emails via the product page prior to the launch. I think what you are
suggesting would prevent this from happening?

Nope. Everything will remain the same.

We just remove the buy now button so users cannot actually take an action.
Copy the previous template to template-2 or something. Find the button and remove it.

In the product page on the right side bottom, there’s an option to select templates. However you can use bult edit to change it faster.
