We decided not to wait around, and fueled by both our frustration with Stocky’s shortcomings, and our own users asking us for a robust way to handle POs with Shopify; decided to build our own solution.
The RunninWildKids ↔ Clement_Foltzer exchange above is the clearest statement of the label situation in any of these threads, so building on it rather than repeating it: both are right. If you print the odd label per SKU and your products already carry manufacturer UPCs, the free Retail Barcode Labels app is genuinely enough — no reason to pay anyone, me included.
The batch case Clement describes is the one I kept hearing from migrating retailers, and — full disclosure — it’s exactly what I built for. LabelLoom takes the received delivery as a pasted list or CSV (SKUs + quantities, straight from a supplier spreadsheet or packing note — it doesn’t need to exist in Shopify first), matches it to your catalogue, flags anything it can’t find instead of silently dropping it, and prints the whole run to scan-tested Dymo/Zebra/Avery presets.
Long-time Stocky users are all hitting the same wall — the feature deprecations last year already made it half-useless, and August 31 finishes the job. Having gone way too deep on this over the past months, the replacements sort into three buckets: forecasting platforms ($49–59/mo, great if you want AI demand planning, overkill if you just ran POs), full ERPs ($350+/mo, for teams with an ops person), and Shopify’s native POs (free, but no reorder automation, no emailing POs to vendors, and other apps can’t even read them via API).
The bucket that was missing — simple vendor POs + reorder points at a price that makes sense for a store that was using a free bundled app — frustrated me enough that I built it: $19/mo flat, purchase orders you can email or print, receiving that syncs to inventory, reorder suggestions from your last 60 days of sales with supplier lead times factored in, and a one-click import of your Stocky PO history. Bias fully declared — it’s mine, and it’s heading into App Store review now.
