Stocky App Going Away after August 31 2026

I am concerned about hearing that the Stocky App is going away this year. What are any of you doing to manage your inventory? We currently use Stocky to create and receive purchase orders, adjust our costs when receiving to utilize average costs on products, print price labels directly from the PO for what was received, completing our whole store inventory via barcode scanning etc. Is there another app that shopify suggests that can do all that Stocky did? I really don’t want to have buy new printers and labels either. The banner in Stocky just suggests to utilize Shopify for purchase orders but Shopify does not offer all that Stocky does so that is not an option! Please any advice would help, I want to get ahead of this now!

This was the most unhelpful answer.

Sorry you feel it was unhelpful, perhaps if you can explain why then I can understand for my future responses.

We’re doing two things.

  1. Waiting to see if the March update brings more Stocky features to Shopify.
  2. Looking into other Inventory management apps.

We’ve been a B&M retailer for 20 yrs and moved to Shopify last year. I was very surprised to find that Shopify didn’t have basic order forcasting reports along with a robust PO system. Our old POS has a full-featured inventory module, but it was 30yr old software. The unfortunate truth is that Shopify and most 3rd party purchasing apps don’t seem to really understand how to run a B&M store with regards to ordering and inventory. They all seem more geared towards web shops. Not to mention that the pricing models are also really weird on most of them. The whole idea of using the number of sales(orders) as your basis for pricing doesn’t make sense to me. I want an inventory history report and a robust PO system with receiving reports. I don’t place inventory reorders based on customer sales. I place them based on negotiated purchasing tiers and terms with the vendors. 99% of our orders are from vendors, not suppliers. It’s a completely different set of requirements than a web shop doing drop shipping.

My thoughts exactly. I too hope Shopify can bring some updates to their inventory management.

Hi @carriec228! I can’t say that our FyreTrail app solves exactly what you’re looking for, but from what you’ve indicated it’s gonna be really freaking close:

  • Create Purchase Orders
  • Receive Purchase Orders
  • Adjust Costs when Receiving
  • Print price labels directly from the PO for what was received
  • Whole store inventory via barcode scanning

FyreTrail does ALL of those.

Here’s the story (sorry @RetailPOSUser you’ve heard this). We own a retail store where most of what FyreTrail does was born from. We receive a ton of orders, have to check the deliveries of those products, get them ready to sell in Shopify, print price tags for those products - but only for the products received, etc. All of that is automated in FyreTrail - even the barcodes (although you have the ability to customize to what you want) and printing.

You also mentioned being able to scan inventory. Yup, we have a really robust inventory “tool” that allows you to use a hand scanner to scan said barcodes irrespective of Shopify until you want to compare against what is in Shopify, what is missing, what wasn’t scanned, etc. The nice thing is that you can have multiple stock takes and you can have multiple simultaneous users scanning AT ONCE with multiple devices.

Anyway, give it a shot and see what you think. I’m sure you’ll love what it can do and how much time it can save you - it likely more than justifies the cost. It has for us and we’ve been using/beta-testing it in the store since April 2025.

So does this app sync with Shopify? How new is this app?

Yes, it does sync with Shopify. It’s been in testing since April of 2025, but was approved as an app in the app store in January of this year.

EDIT: Just to be clear, PO’s do not sync with Shopify as Shopify’s PO’s are currently too limited and don’t have a way for apps to do this yet. FyreTrail provides the functionality and flexibility in PO’s that stores need.

This is definitely concerning, especially for stores that rely heavily on Stocky for POs and full-store counts.

From what I’ve seen, the biggest gap won’t just be forecasting it’ll be replacing the workflow around receiving, average cost updates, and barcode-based counts. That’s where most operational friction happens.

While tools like Fabrikatör or Shopventory can handle forecasting and POs, I think merchants should also look at the operational side, especially staff handling during receiving and stock adjustments. A lot of inventory discrepancies don’t come from the software itself but from how staff process POs and counts in-store.

In our case, alongside inventory tools, we tightened staff permissions and used a simple staff management layer to track who was receiving stock or making adjustments. That alone reduced errors during busy restocks.

Curious to see if Shopify plans to improve its native PO system before the sunset date, which would make the transition much smoother.

Hey, brand new to this forum, but with the Stocky deprecation announcement and the total lack of information from customer support, I was forced to go somewhere. Is there anywhere we can have visibility to a product roadmap for POs/Inventory? Someone mentioned in this thread there is a March release planned? I have to think that Shopify would build out some of the functionality from Stocky into their native app. Part of why we pay for POS PRO was the functionality of Stocky…are they planning on reducing the cost of POS PRO or do we just suck it up?

Our requirements are actually very basic, but even the native Shopify application can’t meet them. I can’t believe that when you enter a Purchase Order line the Cost and the SKU do not automatically feed into the line. You just entered the cost and SKU when you entered the product and then when you pull in the product into the PO, the cost and SKU don’t come with it?? Crazy. I read that since the Cost is not a required field on the product, they don’t pull it into the Purchase Order…what?? Can’t you pull it in if it exists? You can always overwrite it…seems like basic logic.

Anyway, I would love to know two things: How can we influence the direction of the product? And, How can we see a road map of what is planned to be changed/improved in upcoming releases? Is there any transparency with Shopify?

That’s honestly a valid concern.
Stocky covers some very core retail workflows that Shopify’s native tools still don’t fully replace, especially around POs, barcode counts, and average-cost receiving.

From what I’ve seen with POS-heavy stores, the biggest gap after Stocky is not just inventory tracking, but operational flow like smooth receiving, stock counts, and label printing without disrupting existing hardware setups. Switching tools often creates friction there.

Third-party apps like Fabrikatör, Shopventory, and Sumtracker can handle POs and reporting fairly well, but the real challenge will be matching Stocky’s simplicity inside Shopify POS. Especially for stores that rely on fast barcode-based counts and in-store inventory accuracy.

I’d strongly recommend testing label printing compatibility and cost workflow handling before committing, because those two areas usually break existing processes the most.

Right now, it really feels less like a direct replacement situation and more like choosing the closest fit based on your store’s operational priorities.

I urge you guys to check out FyreTrail to see your requests be realized. I hate to keep saying it because after a while it gets old, but this thread keeps mentioning all the things it does:

  1. Barcodes, barcodes, barcodes. FyreTrail comes up with these automagically based on the product number/code that you’re putting into your purchase orders. If it’s a re-order, it just re-uses the existing barcode, but if it’s new it comes up with it based on the pattern you choose.
  2. Label printing. FyreTrail supports both sharing (ipad or mobile device), printing directly or exporting to CSV that you can then import into your favorite label printer to mass print. As more people use FyreTrail the more expansive this area will get.
  3. Cost, Price, Reporting. FyreTrail brings in the cost of the item going into the purchase order, then comes up with a suggested price based on your guidelines. You can overwrite this price as well because the suggestion is not permanent until you accept it. After that, you can report on your sales to look at various aspects of your products and how well or poorly they sell.

Anyway, if you’re against apps, I get it. However, if you are OK with using Stocky I doubt that’s the case so give FyreTrail a look - fully free for 14 days - and see what it can offer. There’s a guided onboarding to creating your first purchase order, quick-help and Q&A assistance to get you going. Or you can always email us at support@fyretrail.com. Hope to see you soon.

i too am concerned. We use stocky for inventory valutation reports routinely - as well as Purchase orders almost every day. One of the best features of stocky is that you can print dymo barcode labels DIRECTLY from the Purchase orders in stocky . i have called shopify twice so far and they suggested i try doing my purchase orders in shopify – which I am easily able to do. but in order to print labels you then have to duplicate your work and enter the skus again into the retail barcode app in order to print everything on the PO - an alternative is going into each individual product and printing tickets there but again – its so much simpler to create a PO and just click one button “print dymo labels” and it prints the whole PO, does anyone know if there is another app that can do this – Shopify has not confirmed whether they will write script to offer this basic functionality My thought is if they are taking away an app that so many users so heavily rely on that they need to find a way to incorporate all the functions within shopify

We use the Multi Barcode Labels app to print out price labels. It has a nice range of options for formatting and layout and it ties into the Stocky API to print labels from Stocky POs. I’m potentially losing two apps when stocky goes away. So now I have an additional problem to solve.

That sounds complicated. You use one app to tie into another app’s API (that in turn ties into Shopify’s API)? Why not just use one app that does both and save on cost? Honest question because I don’t understand why you would want to go through that trouble and expense.

Save on cost how? Stocky is included in the price and Multi Barcode Labels is $9.99/month. Show me something cheaper?

Ok, so based on your higher Shopify spend (POS Pro) you’re saying it’s actually cheaper. Ok, that makes sense why you would go through that then. Thank you.

I’m POS Pro because I’m a Brick and Mortar Retailer. I don’t understand your statement. Why would I go through what?

I was only referring to my original question about going through the app to app to app setup. And you answered so we are good to go. Thank you again.

Hey @carriec228 , We understand your concern and would like to help you switch to Prediko.
We are one of the top rated inventory management apps on the Shopify app store and have already multiple brands from Stocky.

Plans just start from $49/month.
