I have contacted Shopify support directly about this and it seems that the inbuilt search function prioritises the product description over product SKU due to the layout of the JSON (I believe). Does anyone know if there is an upcoming fix for this from Shopify? Does anyone have a workaround (other than overhauling my search with an app)?
What does this mean in reality? I have many products (handles) that utilise minor products (locks). I reference the minor products in other products to explain they are compatible. If someone searches the exact SKU of the minor product it is listed last in search after all the products it can be used with.
This makes no sense to the end-user as they know the SKU number and are looking for a specific part, but are shown a list of related parts first.
I don’t want to stop search from searching the product body because these products are still related, but I want SKU matches to appear first.
