I’m currently building AuraArmorBoutique, a lifestyle store designed for the modern, independent woman. My concept is a unique blend of authentic Finnish handmade jewelry (silicone and silver-plated) and stylish personal safety essentials (travel tools, safety sets, and wellness accessories).
The store is still a work in progress, but I would love to get some early eyes on it before the official launch. I’m specifically targeting the international market, so I want to ensure the “Nordic Boutique” vibe translates well. Nordic culture is near my heart because I am from Finland.
Brand Concept: Does the mix of handmade jewelry and safety tools feel cohesive or confusing?
Product Descriptions: Are the English descriptions engaging and clear for international buyers?
UI/UX: Is the navigation intuitive, especially regarding the collections (Beauty, Style, Safety)?
Trust Factors: Does the store feel professional and secure enough for a new brand?
I’m open to all constructive criticism regarding the layout, imagery, and overall flow. Just remember, the store is not ready yet, so don’t be too harsh
I guess you will upload the small logo for the browser tab later, so it is not an issue for now.
The top menu’s white font was almost completely invisible until I suddenly noticed it and hovered (and the hover works only for the left part of the top menu, whereas the right part with currency, search, etc probably needs that as well, so I’d consider activating the whole container on-hover), I wish it were more visible a bit. On other pages, where there is no gradient, it looks fine.
A similar issue with “Dress with intent. Live without fear.” This phrase is almost drowned in the black part of the gradient - probably it’s just my screen. And I would make the whole description text there slightly bigger.
I also particularly like a number of things:
The top menu appears on scroll-back, but probably I would consider making it not transparent during the scroll-back (your white on-hover style could fit instead), since its elements are lost most of the time when gallery items are the background.
The gallery section itself looks well and interactive.
The CTA carousel with “Shop now”. It looked out of place at first glance, but then I realized that it appears in the right moment and the spot is quite correct.
I hope you will find this feedback useful. I am not a webdesigner myself, so don’t take my critics too seriously, and my regards to the beautiful Suomi
The concept is interesting - combining Finnish design jewelry with personal safety products is a pretty unique angle. A few things I noticed that the others didn’t mention:
The homepage shows several items as “Loppuunmyyty” which I’m guessing means sold out in Finnish. If you’re going after international customers, that’s two problems in one. First, most visitors won’t understand Finnish so it just looks like a broken label. Second, having out-of-stock products front and center on your homepage isn’t a great first impression. I’d hide those or move them to the bottom until you restock.
The bigger question for me is the three collections together. Beauty, jewelry, and safety products. Each one makes sense on its own, but a first-time visitor might not immediately get why they’re in the same store. Your tagline does a decent job connecting them, but maybe a short “Our Story” section on the homepage (not just on a separate page) would help tie it all together. Something about the Finnish design philosophy behind the brand.
One more thing - since you mentioned international markets, I’d make shipping times and costs super visible. That’s usually the #1 hesitation for cross-border buyers. Even a simple banner like “Ships from Finland - 5-7 days to EU” would help.
What’s your main target market? EU only or global?
Hi @AuraArmor,
I think the first step for a store to attract customers is to gain their trust.
You could buy a domain name, because a domain containing myshopify.com suggests your store is still under construction and might not be as appealing to customers.
I have checked your store and I noticed somethings which can help you on your ecommerce journey.
I noticed that the colors combination you used on your store doesn’t align the type of products you are selling. Adjust it and you can maintain the neutral color (White) for the background.
Adjust your brand logo(resize it to 500 by 500 and make it smaller) and remove it background to make it look good on your website.
Instead of using your brand logo as your store banner, you can check picture that resonate with your brand on Freepik or burst from Shopify. Browse through them to get free pictures in which you can use to design your store.
