I changed my store name from “PGH LIVE” to “ROMP” during my trial period. Now I am trying to create a 2nd store with that original store name (PGH LIVE,) however, Shopify is telling me that store name already exists. Can you please clear out the store name of PGH LIVE so that I can open a new store under that name?

Changing your store name will not change the “.myshopify.com” URL that appears in the URL box as this URL can not be changed once it has been created. That said, if you have a purchased domain that reflects your new store name, then you can use Facebook’s debugger tool to have them update their end. Once you’ve run your new domain through the debugger, the social preview should update with the new information.

I understand you’d like to transfer your original myshopify.com URL (store name) from your 1st store to your 2nd store. However, it’s not possible to do so at this time. All myshopify.com URLs stay with the store and cannot be transferred.
There is an active feature request to get this changed so that merchants can transfer their myshopify.com URLs between stores. I have gone ahead and added your feedback to this request.
It’s good to note that you can still purchase a custom domain, which is a domain that would likely end in .com or .co. For example, you could purchase pghlive.com if it is available. Learn more about custom domains here.

Thank you for the insight. I did purchase a domain of www.romp.fun, however, I wanted to see f there was anyway to have that original shopify name. I do have a 2nd question, I want to work on a 2nd store for a 2nd business, PGH Live. However, when I go to create that store, it is still showing the name of “PGH Live” is taken, even though I changed the name to Romp. Is there any way to have that cleared from the system, so that I can work on opening my 2nd store, PGH Live, under the proper name? Thanks again, your assistance is greatly appreciated!
