Hello, we have been operating just over a year now. Simple answer is that there is not a magic wand that drives traffic and conversion in one night. We have a brick and mortar store which makes more that our website. It is all about content creating, building community. There are successful brands but their owners are on camera and constantly creating new content, interacting with their audience and creating their community. That is the only way, unless you have a big budget to spend on big agencies. “People follow and buy from people that they know, like and trust”
Topic summary
A newly launched Shopify store is getting almost no traffic and no sales, leaving the owner stressed, in debt, and unsure how to run ads or what to fix first. The request is for practical steps to attract real visitors and build initial traction.
Core advice centers on awareness and visibility: simply publishing a store is not enough; promotion is required, including paid ads and basic SEO setup.
Actionable steps suggested:
- Set up Google Search Console to get the site indexed and monitor search presence; add a favicon (small site icon) and set clear meta title and description (the text shown in search results).
- Create a Facebook Page, post regularly, and start building followers.
- Use offline tactics like business cards and flyers.
- Engage friends and family; offer discounts in exchange for product reviews to build credibility.
Caveat noted: debt and lack of clear direction make success unlikely without a focused strategy. Status: unresolved; next steps are the above actions.
Opening a shopify store isn’t a get rich quick scheme.
Expect to fail as the tell is as in the opening descriptiong you can’t be bothered to describe what the actual business model is.
Just some vague store == traffic == therefore money.
WHY, if don’t fix bad expectations you’ll just make more bad expectations.
Do you think buying a domain name entitles you to the attention of 8 billion people.
Dose opening website mean everyone else is psychic ..
or that webstore is equivalent to having a location on 5th avenue just raking in dumptrucks filled with oodles of cash.
What you and the tens of thousands of cliche posts like this are hoping for is some magic answer.
That boils down to “how make money” “run my business for me”, “instant experience and success” etc.
Trying to sidestep going and just doing the work by burning the time like everyone else did.
If you don’t fix that magical thinking and improve of self awareness to not be a cliche your gonna keep having a bad time or worst wasting all your time on silly busy work.

if you have an apple account, I think you can use it to create your domain email for free. worth a quick search. re: models, what about Uni students?
This is a super solid reply. Follow this advice. It’s a great start!
I can feel your pain. I visited your site and I think I know what is happening.
You have a website, please switch from a Gmail email address to a more professional one - e.g. [email removed]
You seem to be wanting people to buy, because of the good naturedness of the brand, talking about giving away clothes/50% profits to charity. However, I am not sure if that alone will work. If I am a consumer, I would buy a $70+ hoodie if it spoke to me personally. Who is your ideal customer? An 18-25 year old woman who is a stay at home mom who would want to go to from home to the store without having to change, or a 30-40 year old man CEO who makes time for the gym and wearing your clothes would ensure quality and somehow save them time? In other words, who does this brand speak to directly - that would be the selling point, and the charity talk would be secondary.
What is the pain point that you can exploit? Your solution is what make people buy. You sell the solution. I saw a lady on shark tank, she sells hoodies with a satin lining inside the hood, to prevent women from getting frizzy hair. She identified a pain point and came up with a solution.
You need to market to your audience. Sadly at the start of a business, some money has to be set aside for marketting to get the product off the ground. In order for some persons to launch their brand, they send free products to influencers who speak directly to their audience. If the product is good they will talk about your brand on their platform.
Other than that you mentioned FB ads etc, which maybe youll have to consider getting someone to run for you (check fiver/upwork), so you can start profiting. There’s TikTok Shop and ads, as well as Instagram ads.
But I believe you need to niche down on your brand. People will buy when they feel seen or understood, their profits going to charity would be the bonus.
I understand that I have to have a target audience but I don’t know how to “speak directly” to them. My ideal customer is 16-30 active men. The pain point is that traditional hoodies trap heat making it hard to exercise in them. My hoodies and pants are made of a silk-like material that is very breathable during exercise, but comfortable and soft normally. The shorts and t-shirts have a similar idea.
I know a bit about posting on facebook groups but the admin never approves my posts…
Ok thanks for you help. I’ll check it out
Your website doesn’t make me want to buy from you. your page banner isnt appealing at all. The front page looks like it was made in the 90s. Your contact page is plain, your email is a personal gmail. You should research your competitors website.
Nothing on there gives me “I should trust this business”.
A domain email costs $6 a month on Google workspace. I never respond to gmail.com accounts to do business … that’s where spam and fraud come from.
