So I am new. I have attempted all the new setups. I have watched hundreds of videos, yes I actually have! I have been reviewing all of this for months before even starting the 14 day free trial. I am 4 days in and can not for the life of me, even watching videos of step by step guides, get a product into a store! It is not by any stretch of the imagination an easy task. Now, I may be making it harder than it is, but even following step by step from anyone it dosnt actually show you what to do, not even from the actual app makers. It seems like point, click, change price, import… that is not even how it works. Maybe someone can help me? Maybe someone can point me in the right direction? I am not paying people for help when I am already in the process of paying for the service. Anyhow, hopefully I am not the only one and if I am well I guess this just isnt for me, and I mean shopify because I can get this stuff to work elsewhere!
Hi @wilrwhite
Thank you for reaching out for help with this and welcome to the community forums!
Starting an online store with Shopify definitely has a large learning curve, even when lots of preparation has been done.
To clarify, are you having issues importing products from the Spocket app itself? If yes, have you contacted Spocket directly for support? If you haven’t yet, you can do so from within your app list by clicking the “Support” link next to the app.
Feel free to also let me know what step you are able to get to in your import progress and I will see if I can assist. Since Spocket is a third party app, I can’t guarantee that I will be able to access it on my test store. I’m happy to try though!
i have still been trying. I think its just not for me. You click a button for the item, I believe in both apps it says source or import, you then can put a bunch of information into a box but there nothing after that, and what do you put in the boxes? If I put a price is that the price I am selling the item for? It says that drop shipping isn’t included in the price, so how do I know then what price to sell it for? I tried to reach out, yes. Was not successful at the time, got messages after saying sorry they missed me and to watch some videos. I will watch a few more how to videos I suppose and hope I gleen something useful. Im down to what, 8 days on my trial. If I cant get a item from one of those two apps successfully on there Ill just let it lapse I suppose and try somewhere else.
Thank you for taking the time to reply.
Here are some screenshots from within the Spocket app showing how to import products from your store, and what some of the information you will need to fill in yourself would be. Please let me know if you have specific questions on any of these steps and feel free to share screenshots of what you are looking at on your end as well.
Step one (after installing the app): Search Spocket for the product(s) you are interested in and add to your import list:
TIP: Start small! Too many items will take too long to setup and you may make pricing decision changes as you continue to build your store. Start with a small catalog of up to 20 products and then expand from there.
Step 2: Open the import list and adjust the information for each product. There are 4 tabs that manage different aspects of the product. These fields will be the information available to your customers and how the product will be sorted/managed/added to your admin.
Tab 1/2/4 - Product/Description/Images: These tabs are where you edit the product page information and its tags, category and collections. The only mandatory field here is the product name.
TIP: Customizing the product name and description creates a better shopping experience as the default name and description tend to have too much information or it is too keyword heavy.
Tab 3 - Variants:
- The variants tab is where you choose which product variants you want to stock (If the product has more than one type or style) and the sale price that the customer pays for the item.
- The SKU and Inventory column are controlled by the app and cannot be changed. The SKU info is used for the app to recognize the product in it’s own system and the inventory is provided by the supplier.
- The cost and shipping column is the cost of what YOU pay to order this item.
- The Sale Price column is what the CUSTOMER pays at the checkout for the item, before paying your in store shipping rates.
- The profit is the markup of the product and how much you make off of it.
- Compare at price is to show the item as on sale in the store (Was $50 now $40, etc)
When ready, save your changes and push to store to publish the product. This will make the product immediately available on your store. If you have pre-chosen collections or tags for automatic collections then the product will be found there right away.
Let me know if you have additional questions about the fields you are seeing and what needs to be filled in.
