Hi everyone,
I’ve built an online store and am testing different apps. I’m currently using SA Request a Quote, which works well for letting customers add products to a quote request and submit it.
The issue: I also want customers to submit a custom quote request for items not listed in the store. I created an additional RFQ page with a form, but when you click on the RFQ page it shows an error saying “You cannot request a quote without products in the cart.”
Does anyone know how to fix this so customers can submit quote requests without needing items in the cart?
Hey @STQKON_Bytes,
That error means the “SA Request a Quote” app is hardcoded or configured to expect products in the cart for any quote request it processes, even if you’re trying to use a separate page for custom items.
Check the app’s settings carefully. There might be an option to enable “custom quote requests,” “standalone forms,” or to disable the cart dependency for specific pages or forms. Many RFQ apps are primarily built around converting the current cart into a quote. If you don’t find a setting, you’ll need to contact the app developer directly. They might have a specific workaround or a feature you’re missing, or it might simply be a limitation of their app.
If the app truly doesn’t support custom requests without a cart, you might need to implement a simple contact form (either Shopify’s native one or a form builder app) for those “items not listed in the store” and manage those requests separately, outside the SA Request a Quote app.
P.S. I’m building a gamified discount app called Game Gophers. The first 10 users are getting free lifetime access. Would you be interested in seeing a short video of how it works?
thank you so much, I will give that a go.
You’re welcome to send through the video!
thank you so much, appreciate it!
