Subscription App Tax Issues...is it Shopify or is it the App

My state tax was changed at the first of the year. The Shopify store adjusted for sales accordingly. EXCEPT, my subscription app continued to charge the old tax rate. I felt like I got the runaround from the subscription app vendor trying to fix it, so I switched to another subscription app. The first subscription that in the new app charged the old tax rate. Both apps had the same problem. So I asked Shopify what the problem was and they said it was the apps problem. I went back to the app vendor and they said Shopify is the one that determines sales tax. I went back to Shopify and they stand by it being an app issue. I’d like to think there is a very simple solution out there, and I’d kind of like to charge the correct tax to my customers.

Has anyone had this situation before…and found a solution? Thanks!

I am having a similar issue. I use a subscription app in Shopify and it is consistently charging sales tax based on a customer’s shipping address and not the pickup location - which is especially problematic for customers with no shipping address, which is most since the subscription is pickup only. So basically we’re never able to charge sales tax. Subscription app says it’s Shopify, Shopify says it’s working fine and it’s the app…
