How can I change the primary market to Southeast Asia on Shopify’s Basic plan? My store is currently in the setup phase, with 70% of the product pages completed. Due to a recent platform policy change, other markets were removed. The product page templates I created were originally set up for Southeast Asian countries, and I now wish to temporarily switch the primary market to Southeast Asia to restore and continue using those templates, avoiding the need to rebuild from scratch. What are some efficient methods to achieve this goal?
Topic summary
A Shopify store owner on the Basic plan is trying to change their primary market to Southeast Asia to recover product page templates. They have completed 70% of product pages, but templates originally configured for Southeast Asian markets became inaccessible after a recent Shopify policy change.
Key Issue:
- Shopify Basic plan recently removed the Primary Market feature (within the last two weeks)
- The standard method of editing market settings via the three-dot menu is no longer available
- Templates built for Southeast Asia market are now lost and inaccessible
Goal:
Restore access to existing Southeast Asian market templates without rebuilding from scratch.
Current Status:
The user confirmed that traditional market-switching instructions no longer work due to the policy change. The discussion remains open with no solution provided yet for recovering templates under the new Basic plan limitations.
Hello, Augustine.
Thank you very much for your reply. However, Shopify’s policy has changed recently. The Basic plan used to include a Primary Market, but it no longer does. So, when going to “Under Markets, you’ll see your current Primary Market. Click on the three dots next to it and select Edit market settings,” I can’t find the three dots. I believe this change, likely within the last two weeks, has caused the loss of the product templates I set up for the Southeast Asia market.
