Taste theme - How can I add Filter by tag?

Hey everyone.

I’m using the taste theme from shopify. Had a quick question.

How can I add filters on the collection page that filter by tags? I see filters for brand, product type etc. That is fine for the all collection. As you can see in this image:

However, this is of no use in individual sub collection pages as you can see in this image:

I have tags assigned to all the products that I want to use as filters. Like Gluten Free or Vegan etc.

How would I go about doing that? Will I need to set up metafields? If so, how do I assign multiple “tags” or metafields to a product and have them filter by it? The store has more than 900 products so if there’s an app or something to help with this, I’m even open to that option.

As a side note, can someone also help me figure out why the edges of the checkbox in the filter are not showing?
