Hi everyone,
I am starting a new niche bakery called Nyra Asian Bakery and I’m following the great advice I received here to set up my marketing. However, I’ve hit a major technical roadblock.
I am trying to verify my store for Google Ads, but every time I paste the meta tag into my Shopify theme code, it says ‘invalid’ and won’t let me save. I’ve tried multiple times but keep failing. Has anyone else dealt with this specific error?
Also, here is my store link for those who offered to give me design feedback: [Paste your store URL here]
I’d love to hear your thoughts on my branding and how I can improve the layout to get my first customers. Thank you so much for the help!
Can you provide a screenshot of the code you put in, the error, and exactly which file?
Usually when Shopify throws an “invalid” error saving theme.liquid, it means you pasted the tag in the wrong spot (it needs to go right below the <head> tag) or you accidentally copied some weird formatting/spaces along with the tag.
Honestly though, the easiest way to verify your store for Google Ads is to just install the official Google & YouTube app from the Shopify app store. I stopped doing manual meta tags for this a while ago. The app links your Google account and verifies the domain automatically without touching any code.
Btw, you forgot to actually paste your store URL in your post for the design feedback!
Thank you so much for the helpful advice! I will try installing the official Google & YouTube app from the Shopify App Store instead of doing the manual meta tags—that sounds much easier and safer than editing the theme.liquid code.
Also, thank you for pointing that out! Here is the URL for my store for the design feedback: https://asian-bakery-3800.myshopify.com/.
I appreciate your help!"
General consensus is that Google Tag Manager is better than that app.
thank you so much i am appreciated.
