Hi all,
Got a question for you all. So this limit Shopify has for 1000 variants after 50,000 variants really sucks. I thought about transferring to Bigcommerce because I cant operate my business this way. Then I got an idea. And I think its pretty clever. Most of my items have 6 sizes and 6 color choices. So most of my items have 36 variants. This means I can only upload 27 items each day. Not feasible. So I was thinking of having the drop down option for color selection then in the size section, make it a text box where the consumer would type their size. That would drastically drop my variants number for each product. This brings up several questions.
First off, is that possible? Like could I do this or would I have to hire someone to accomplish this? Trying to get this done as cheap as possible.
Second, does that cheapen the website? Do you think that set up would scare people off from buying? I mean, you kind of do that on etsy. Where often they have you enter your email address, confirm you read the description etc.
Id love everyone’s feedback on this. I did start a Bigcommerce store. Because that may be the only way around this. I tried getting Shopify to increase my daily limits but they wont. So leaving Shopify may be my only option. I don’t really want to. I put so much work and time into this store. But if push comes to shove, then I will.
Thanks so much in advance!
