That is why your conversion rate is low || Don't ignore this || Important for store owners

Many store owners invest in marketing and user-friendly websites, yet still struggle with low conversion rates.

A primary cause of low conversion rates on platforms like Facebook and Google is often inaccurate or incomplete conversion tracking.

In today’s landscape of data-driven marketing, the quality of the data you provide to these platforms directly impacts their ability to optimize your campaigns and target the right audiences effectively. Better data leads to more precise audiences and, ultimately, a higher conversion rate.

As a Conversion Tracking Specialist with over three years of experience, I’ve observed that many Shopify store owners rely solely on native apps (like the Google & YouTube app or facebook and instagram App) for tracking. But Tracking data is not as accurate as it should be.

Since ad platform’s algorithm behaves based on the conversion data it receives, this incomplete/inaccurate Conversion Data can severely limit ads results.

Expert recommendation is to implement conversion tracking for Google ads, GA4, pixel or other platfoms through Google Tag Manager (GTM). Many Shopify store owners use GTM in parallel with the Google & YouTube app or Facebook pixel as backup/secondary. Then primary when consistently finding that GTM tracks a significantly higher volume of conversions Than Google and youtube app or Facebook and instagram App.

The attachments I’ve included showcase the measurable results of this approach. While these tools capture some conversion data, they frequently underreport and lack of consistency.

I’m no expert but I’ve read somewhere that server side tracking is the best method for conversion tracking. Do you agree?

100% agree. I configured server-side tracking for both Facebook Pixel and Google ads tracking for my different clients. You see the result with attention and details.

GTM is the champion in tracking conversions/events

Totally agree with this. I’ve seen a lot of Shopify store owners rely only on the native integrations for tracking, and that usually gives incomplete data. Once you set things up properly through GTM or a custom setup, ad performance starts improving quite a bit.

If anyone here is thinking of taking it a step further, building a custom Shopify app is a solid move. Platforms like Appbrew make it simple to create mobile apps that connect well with Meta, Google Ads, and GA4, which helps improve tracking accuracy and conversions overall.
