Hi everyone,
I’m using the Taste theme and I’ve run into an issue: my About Us page and Wholesale page are showing the same content, even though I want them to be different.
Here’s what I’ve done so far:
I created two custom templates:
page.about-custom.json
page.wholesale-custom.json
I assigned each template to its corresponding page in the Shopify editor.
However, both pages still display identical content.
I even tried following multiple ChatGPT suggestions and editing the templates and sections, but the problem still hasn’t gone away.
I’d really appreciate any help in figuring out what I might be missing or doing wrong.
How can I make sure each page uses its own separate content and section?
Easy. It’s because they are both linking to the same page: Contact – Nardiss
Change the links of “Wholesale” and “About Us” to reflect the correct urls.
Go to your store admin > Content > Menus, check the link of Wholesale, Contact Us, and About Us. You are using the same link but different Labels, so it causes this issue.
Follow these steps carefully to ensure each page has its own independent content.
Step 1: Create a New, Unique Section File
First, we’ll duplicate the section that contains your page content to create a unique one for the wholesale page.
From your Shopify Admin, go to Online Store > Themes.
Find your Taste theme, click the “…” button (Actions), and select Edit code.
In the code editor, look for the Sections folder on the left-hand side and click to open it.
You need to find the section your current pages are using. It’s most likely named main-page.liquid. Click on it to open it.
With the main-page.liquid code open, copy the entire contents of the file (Ctrl+A or Cmd+A to select all, then Ctrl+C or Cmd+C to copy).
Now, click “Add a new section” under the Sections folder.
In the pop-up, name your new section. To keep things clear, name it main-page-wholesale. Make sure “Liquid” is selected and click Done.
A new, blank file will open. Delete any placeholder code inside it and paste the code you copied from main-page.liquid.
Click Save. You now have a separate, identical section file ready for your wholesale content.
Step 2: Update Your Wholesale Template to Use the New Section
Now, you need to tell your page.wholesale-custom.json template to use the main-page-wholesale.liquid section you just created.
In the code editor, find and open the Templates folder.
Click on your page.wholesale-custom.json file to open it.
Inside this file, you will see some code. Look for a line that says something like “type”: “main-page”. It will be inside a block for the main page content.
Change this line to point to your new section. Modify it to say: “type”: “main-page-wholesale” (the name you gave your new section file, without the .liquid part).
Click Save.
Step 3: Add Your Content in the Theme Customizer
Now that the technical setup is complete, you can add the unique content to each page.
Go back to the theme editor by clicking Customize on your theme.
Using the dropdown menu at the top center of the screen, navigate to your About Us page. Click on the sections on the left-hand panel and add your “About Us” content.
Next, use the same dropdown menu to navigate to your Wholesale page. The sections on the left will now be completely independent. You can now add your wholesale form and content here without affecting the About Us page.
Click Save in the theme customizer.
That’s it! Your “About Us” page will continue to use the original main-page.liquid section, while your “Wholesale” page will now use its own dedicated main-page-wholesale.liquid section, allowing them to have completely different content.
