The Theme I Chose in the Theme Store is Very Different Inside The Editor

Topic summary

Problem: After clicking “Try Theme” on the paid Launch – Bold theme, the editor preview looks very different from the demo. Sections are shuffled, margins differ, and the first four blocks (hero image/CTA, image with text, product focus, full‑width video) don’t match the demo order. Header and footer also differ; footer appears blank.

Context: The poster is new to Shopify (from Wix) and reports similar issues when trying other themes. Multiple screenshots compare the demo vs. editor, indicating layout and styling inconsistencies. Images are central to understanding the discrepancy.

Guidance offered:

  • Themes ship with structure, but demo stores are pre-populated with their own content and settings; merchants must configure sections/blocks via Theme Customization.
  • If the goal is to replicate the demo exactly, contact the theme vendor to import the demo content/settings into the store.

Status: Unresolved. No technical fix confirmed in-thread. Action items: 1) Manually set up sections/blocks to mirror the demo; 2) Reach out to the theme vendor for demo import/support to match the advertised layout, header, and footer.

This is my first time using Shopify. I primarily design websites with Wix so bare with me. This might be an easy fix, but i’ve spent about an hour trying to figure this out.

I found a theme a like - “Launch - Bold”

After clicking “Try Theme” the layout is shuffled all around.

The first block is not supposed to be a slideshow. it should be an image with a call to action

The second block is supposed to be the “Images with text” block. Also, the margins for each block are off.

The third block is supposed to be the “Product Focus” block

The forth block is supposed to be a full width video

The layout issues continue

What am i doing wrong? Ive tried other themes and having the same problem.

Hello @forcearial :waving_hand:

The main functions that a theme has to offer are the header and footer, while the content can change freely.

That being said, the demo you see on the theme has already populated with their own content, not your store content. You can go to the Theme customization and change the page blocks to the content layout you want.

Thank you for responding. But not even the header and footer layouts are the same. They are completely different. The header is supposed to be white - okay easy fix. The tabs are different - okay every website has different names for their pages - 15-30minute fix. But the issues persist. The footer is just completely blank.

These are screenshots of this them as seen in the demo:

I might understand if the templates were free but they charge $300 for a theme that looks very different and requires a lot of work to make it look like what you pay for? Very messy.

If anyone else has found a solution to this frustrating issue id really appreciate your suggestions.

You can contact the theme vendor to ask them to help importing the demo to your store.
