in case it helps someone coming to this in 2024 you’ve gotta format an image URL that looks like this:

https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1234/1234/1234/files/file-name.png?v=123456789

to look like this:

shopify:\/\/shop_images\/file-name.png
