Theme updates - customizations not supported

Hi guys,

We’re currently working with the Cascade Shopify Theme and we did get this message below:

Your code changes won’t be included because one or more changes conflict with the update. After the updated theme is added to your theme library, you will be able to copy your code over or re-configure some apps.

Only themes installed through the Shopify Theme Store support updates. If you purchased a paid theme from a third-party theme designer, then contact them for updates.

Adding the font for the headlines is one thing, but adding all the tons of customizations is another. How did you guys solve this, as this is probably something recurring?

Are there any Shopify Themes that support 3rd-party apps so we will not encounter these problems every year again? I appreciate your help. Best Sibylle & Carmen

This applicable not only for your theme but any theme which has custom development done on their theme.

Shopify theme update itself with base code only any custom dev requires manual updation of theme.

Therefore we always create new file for any custom development which help us in updating the clients code.
