When we click the "add to cart “button , we receive an error message " There was an error while updating your cart. Please try again.”
But on refresh, the cart has updated perfectly.
Of course, we would like to skip the error message and go straight to the reloaded page. Can anyone help…?

This is probably due to some big in the code. Since it does update on load that means it is working. So on adding product to cart an ajax load on the page or the main product document would probably solve this issue but it will need some looking up.

You may not have changed code but did you add any apps or something to your store. It is possible the code must be clashing. If you have try removing them and checking if the error exists.
How long has this been happening?
This problem has been around for 2 days, and I haven’t installed any apps recently. I don’t know which app caused it. Can you help me check it
