Thinking about using a paid theme for my store

Hey guys, I’ve been using a free theme for store for a long time. To be honest I think it’s ok but after researching and see others spend a lot on paid themes, i started to think about getting one. Before making any decision, I’d like to hear your opinion, does paid themes really make a difference? Thank you.

@AlexGrowth paid themes do have their own advantages like more templates, more customization options, instant support from developers, availability of sliders, grids for product presentation etc. So definitely it makes your store to look good.

Thank you, I’ll think about it :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Thank you! I’m using Dawn too

@AlexGrowth you want to increase functionality then you can try page builder app liiiiiiike pagefly, you have the link on my profile n the paid plans are less costly compared to themes

You’re thinking about getting paid theme – why?

First – you can try any theme from the Theme store in your shop for free.
When you’ve tried several, you should make a list of what is missing in your current theme.
Only then you should revisit theme store and see which theme offers most of those things.

And then, if you’re still thinking like “spend a lot on paid themes”, then probably this is money to spend elsewhere, like paid ads or SEO improvements.
(but do not ditch the list – you may wish to revisit it later  )

Paid themes have more beautiful design and features or spaces to customize. If you have enough budget, it is available to get a paid theme for more conversions.

For what it’s worth, I’d recommend taking a look at themeforest (Envato) got lots and lots of different themes at a range of prices that won’t break the bank. Always my first port of call when looking for a new theme, couldn’t imagine spending hundreds on a theme.

I’ll try it. Thank you!

sure, thank you very much

def what I need to know!

Thank you! I’ll take a look

Hi there :waving_hand:

Paid themes can be great, but they can also be expensive (especially Shopify’s official ones). Another option is to hire a Shopify developer who can build a custom theme tailored to your needs. With a custom build, you can copy sections from any theme you like and get a store that’s unique, optimized, and flexible — often better value than buying multiple paid themes.

Hi @AlexGrowth

Paid themes will give you many options to make it easier to boost sales, analysis & SEO support. You can use free theme but need to install apps to support the requirement you want

That’s a great question! Free themes can definitely work fine, especially when you’re just starting out. But paid themes usually come with a few key advantages:

  • More customization options – You can make your store look unique without heavy coding.

  • Better performance – Many premium themes are optimized for speed and conversions.

  • Advanced features – Things like mega menus, product filters, quick view, countdown timers, etc. are often built-in.

  • Regular updates & support – With a paid theme, you usually get developer support and updates to keep your store secure and compatible.

That said, it really depends on your store’s goals. If your current free theme is meeting your needs and conversions are good, you don’t have to upgrade. But if you want to stand out more, improve customer experience, and save time with built-in features, then a paid theme can definitely be worth the investment.

@AlexGrowth Paid themes usually offer more advanced features, design flexibility, and better performance out of the box. That said, a free theme can still work well if customized properly. If your current theme limits your branding, speed, or conversion tools, then upgrading to a paid theme could be worth it. Otherwise, you can scale with a free one until you’re ready.

That is a great idea tho?
