Topic summary

A store owner published their Shopify store but encounters a “content is protected” access error when clicking on items. The error message appears scrambled or reversed in the original post.

Possible Causes Identified:

  • User may be logged into the wrong account
  • Insufficient permissions for the account being used
  • Store owner may have revoked access permissions

Secondary Issue:
Another user reports the same problem after a payment issue required updating their credit card on file. They question whether the payment problem automatically locked the website and why it wasn’t unlocked after the payment went through.

Status: The discussion remains ongoing with troubleshooting questions about account ownership and payment resolution, but no definitive solution has been provided yet.

Hey @8642638755 ,

Welcome to the Shopify Community!

The error you’re seeing would indicate that the account you’re trying to access does not have the appropriate permissions for the store. The error can happen if the store owner has revoked your permissions, or if you’re signing into the wrong account.

Are you the account owner?

I am also having this problem. Site was working last time I checked, and I have not made any changes.

We had a payment issue where we had to change the credit card on file. Could this have locked the website? If so, why was it not unlocked automatically when the payment went through?

Hey @Marcheses ,

Did you make the credit card change as the store owner?
