I set up an automatic discount, then got this error.
Is it possible an automatic discount affected shipping preferences? I’m struggling to see the link between the two?

It’s possible that the Minimum purchase amount condition for a discount can affect price-based shipping rates, specifically when using a Minimum order price for the shipping rates. However, that doesn’t appear to be the case here, as the discount is applied successfully in your screenshot. Though I don’t have enough information on your Shipping settings (Settings > Shipping and delivery), this error seems to be related to your shipping zones and/or shipping rates.
That being said, does the same error appear if you test the same order without a discount code?
If so, I’d be happy to take a closer look - Can you share more details or screenshots of your shipping zones and rates?

It seems the issue was indeed due to the minimum and maximum purchase order conditions set on your shipping rates. If we look at the order amount and the shipping rates, it seems the range of the shipping conditions doesn’t cover the range after ‘$12.95-$25.00’ and before ‘$25.90-$49.00’. As the subtotal with the discounts comes to $25.16 when calculating the shipping, this amount coincidentally falls outside the ranges for your shipping rates.
You can fix the issue and continue to use the automatic discount, by changing the range of your shipping conditions to ‘$12.95-$25.89’ for the $4.95 rate or ‘$25.01-$49.00’ for the $7.95 rate. It’s worth mentioning that there’s a $1 gap between Free Shipping rate and USPS Priority Mail as well, so there won’t be any shipping rates on orders with subtotals sitting between $49.01-$49.99. To resolve that, you’ll also want to consider changing free shipping conditions to ‘$49.00 and up’ or setting the maximum purchase order to $49.99 for the USPS Priority Mail.
