A seller is experiencing a critical integration issue where TikTok Shop orders import correctly into Shopify, but fulfillment status updates don’t sync back to TikTok. This forces manual order closure on TikTok one-by-one, which is inefficient.
Current Setup:
Using TikTok Shop app for Shopify
“Ship by Seller” fulfillment method
Already contacted both TikTok support and Shopify with no working solution
Suggested Troubleshooting:
Verify the TikTok Shop app has proper permissions to access and update order information in Shopify
Check for app updates that may include bug fixes
Test with a single order to pinpoint where synchronization breaks
Escalate to TikTok Shop technical support with screenshots, order numbers, and error messages
Consider alternative fulfillment methods (dropshipping or third-party fulfillment) that may have better integration compatibility
Potential Root Causes:
App version bugs or API communication glitches
Incompatibility between “Ship by Seller” workflow and TikTok’s sync requirements
Mismatched order status definitions between platforms

We recently started selling on TT. We added the TT app and all products, orders etc are syncing through the app. All orders flow into Shopify correctly. The issue is that when we fulfill orders in Shopify, the order status updates are not syncing to TT and we have to manually close the orders one by one, which is not ideal.
We use ‘ship by seller’ if that helps.
I chatted with multiple TT reps, and I reached out to Shopify too. I received a bunch of different responses but nothing seems to work.
Does anyone have experience with this? Not sure what else we can do at this point..

It’s frustrating to deal with order status sync issues, especially when you’re using a crucial integration like the TikTok Shop app. Here’s a breakdown of potential causes and troubleshooting steps:
Possible Causes
App Integration Issues:
App Version: The TikTok Shop app might have bugs or limitations in its current version.
API Issues: There could be temporary glitches or disruptions in the API communication between Shopify and the TikTok Shop app.
App Configuration: Incorrect app settings or misconfigurations within the app itself could be preventing proper order status updates.
Shopify Order Fulfillment Settings:
“Ship by Seller” Workflow: While “Ship by Seller” is a common method, it might not be fully compatible with the TikTok Shop app’s order status synchronization.
Order Status Definitions: Discrepancies between how order statuses are defined in Shopify and how they are interpreted by the TikTok Shop app can cause synchronization problems.
Troubleshooting Steps
Re-check App Settings:
Review App Permissions: Ensure the TikTok Shop app has the necessary permissions within your Shopify store to access and update order information.
Check for Updates: Update the TikTok Shop app to the latest version. App updates often include bug fixes and performance improvements.
Test with a Single Order:
Place a small test order through your TikTok Shop.
Carefully monitor the order status updates in both Shopify and your TikTok Shop account.
This can help pinpoint the exact point where the synchronization breaks down.
Contact TikTok Shop Support:
Escalate the Issue: Explain the issue in detail to TikTok Shop Support. Provide them with screenshots, order numbers, and any error messages you encounter.
Request Technical Assistance: Ask for assistance from TikTok Shop’s technical support team to investigate the issue further.
Explore Alternative Fulfillment Methods (If Possible):
Consider “Dropshipping” or “Third-Party Fulfillment”: If feasible for your business model, explore alternative fulfillment methods within Shopify. These methods might have better integration with the TikTok Shop app.
