We had a customer return a product to us and accordingly we tried to make a refund on their payment.
But we received an error saying “You are over the time limit to perform a refund on this transaction.” It says the refund was unsuccessful. Payment Payment was done via Paypal.
Never saw this before. Any idea what this could mean?
The reason for this is PayPal only permits refunds with 180 days of the original date of payment. After that time, Shopify is unable to do so through the platform. You can still process the refund manually by paying the amount directly to the customer from your PayPal account and then marking the order as refunded in Shopify.
