Tittle tag duplication error shows up on Semrush only!

Topic summary

Multiple users are experiencing a sudden spike in duplicate title tag errors flagged by SEMrush, specifically showing “American Express” as the duplicate title across numerous pages (76 pages in one case).

Key Details:

  • Manual page-by-page checks show no actual title tag issues on the websites themselves
  • The error appears only in SEMrush site audits, not in the actual site code
  • One user resolved the issue by removing a recently installed SEO plugin, suggesting plugin conflicts may be the root cause

Potential Causes:

  • Recently installed SEO plugins interfering with title tags
  • Possible connection to payment badge implementations in website footers

Current Status: One user confirmed their issue was resolved after uninstalling the problematic SEO plugin. Others are investigating recent plugin installations as the likely culprit.

There were only 7 duplicate title tag on my website, yesterday, all of a sudden, 76 pages are showing up as having duplicate title tag as “American Express”. But I checked it in website page by page, there is no change and everything looks, okay. But, in Semrush site audit, this is coming up as an error and affected to 76 pages. (I have added a SEO plugin, last week) is that because of this? Any idea or similar experience and solutions?

Hi, did you end up getting this fixed? I’m encountering the same issue with “American Express” Title tag. I’m wondering if it has something to do with the payment badges in the footer?

I am also encountering the issue of the “American Express” title tag. Anyone figure this out?

Did you install any plugins recently, then that would be the issue. I installed a SEO plugin and it messed it all up, and when I deleted it all became okay. So better check recent plugin installs.

Thanks, I’ll check that.
