To choose a plan says contact us and then it just takes me in circles through the support articles.

I’m not able to select a plan for my store which is already setup. It says that its a “Developer Store” and that I have to contact Shopify for plans but, just takes me in circles through the support system. Help. I’m also getting an error code 500 every time I hit the contact us link and then it says that the page is all checked out and fine, no errors were found.

Is this a store previously being worked on by a Shopify Partner, which was then transferred to you? If you could share a bit more context on the issue, I’ll be able to investigate further.

A free Shopify account with certain restrictions is referred to as a development store, which is utilized by Shopify Partners to experiment with themes or apps or to establish a Shopify account for clients.

When a Partner is finished building a store for a client, the next step is to transfer ownership of the store to the client. Prior to transferring ownership, the Partner will add the client as a staff member. The client must then complete the staff account setup before gaining ownership of the store. Once this step is completed, the new owner receives an email with instructions to create the account and select a plan. For better visibility, could you share a screenshot of the Error Code 500 you’re seeing on your end when contacting support?

Troubleshooting Suggestions:

  • Clear your cache and cookies on your browser. After this, completely reboot the browser.
  • Try a different web browser, as well as incognito or private windows to rule out any browser issues.
  • When using incognito, if you are still experiencing a display issue, confirm you have disabled browser extensions as these can change how the pages look.
  • Try another device, like another computer or mobile phone.

  • Log into your store
  • Select Account > Plans and billing from the topics provided
  • Scroll down to Get Support to view our available contact options
