Today (1/25/25) Shopify undercharged customers for shipping. This is the 1st time in the years we have been using Shopify that this has happened and it did it with every package (2 of them) we shipped today.
I double checked the weights of the products shipped and they were correct. One of the packages was small and one was large-ish (17" long) but neither were unusual compared to what we regularly ship. Both were shipped using temporary packages but 70%-75% of our shipments are with temporary packages.
Over the last month I have noticed changes happening to shipping. For example:
- The amount charged to the customer (ground) has often exactly matched the USPS charge where in the past I made $0.50 to $0.75 for shipping.
- In the past priority shipping almost always matched exactly what was charged the customer but lately (about half the time) I have made a small amount on the shipping. (the opposite of what has been happening with ground shipping)
And now today for the first time ever I had to pay because the customer was undercharged.
I have shipping and handling set to 3%. Is this a permanent change and I need to raise that number or is this something that is in the process of being worked on?
[Edited to add] Of the two orders, one was in a temporary package slightly bigger than the default and the other was in a temporary package smaller than the default in every dimension.
