I would like to transfer my website from one partner account to another. I have two partner accounts and would like to delete one of them, but first I need to consolidate all my websites into a single partner account.
I don’t want to lose my rights when I transfer the store. I have online stores for which I have collaborator access through the partner, as well as others that are still under development—for which I don’t pay a subscription fee until the store is transferred to the client and goes live.
You have two different situations here and only one of them involves a transfer at all.
For the stores where you only hold collaborator access, there is nothing to move. Collaborator access belongs to your Partner organisation rather than to the store, and Shopify’s docs are explicit that a collaboration store cannot be transferred. What you do instead is send a fresh collaborator request to each store from the account you are keeping, have the merchant approve it, then remove the old organisation. Your permissions come from what the merchant grants on that new request, so ask for the same scopes you hold today and nothing about the store itself changes.
For the ones you are still building and not paying for, those are client transfer stores, and the documented transfer path goes to a client who takes over billing. I could not find a documented sideways move from one Partner org to another for those. Worth putting that question to Partner Support before you delete anything, because deleting the old organisation first would strand them with no owner to hand them to.
One thing that applies either way. Get the new collaborator requests approved and confirm you can actually log in through them before you touch the old account at all. Consolidating is easy to reverse at that stage and much harder once the old organisation is gone.
Roughly how many are on the collaborator side versus still in development? The answer is a lot simpler if the development ones are early enough to just rebuild.
I don’t have many websites left under development on the old partner platform, so I think I’ll wait until I finish them and transfer them to the client before requesting collaborator access through the new partner. Based on your response, I think that’s the simplest approach.
Hi @romantadis Welcome To Shopify Community So For stores where you only have collaborator access (client-owned stores), you can’t transfer that between your partner accounts yourself, the store owner needs to remove the collaborator request from your old partner account and send a new collaborator request to your other partner account’s email, since collaborator access is tied to the partner account it was granted to, not something you can move independently. For development stores you actually own (not yet transferred to a client), go to Partner Dashboard > Stores > select the store > Transfer store, and choose your other partner account as the destination, this keeps the store’s free development status intact as long as it stays unpaid/pre-launch, transferring between your own partner accounts doesn’t trigger billing. Do this for each store individually before deleting the old partner account, since deleting a partner account that still has stores linked to it can cause you to lose access entirely rather than auto-transferring anything. Hope this helps solve your problem, and if it does, don’t forget to like and mark it as the solution. Thank you!
