Transitioning to new Checkout Extensibility Thank you and Order status pages

I currently see messages in Admin/Settings/Checkout telling me that my Thank You and Order Status pages have been deprecated, along with Order status page additional scripts. As I understand it, by 28 Aug 2025, I must replace any additional scripts with custom pixel events (or use an App) and then publish the new default Thank You and Order Status pages.

For info, the only additional script I currently have is a Google conversion page script. I use Shopify’s Google & YouTube sales channel app (which is also connected to Google Analytics), and currently only advertise to Google Shopping. I am on the basic plan.

So, before I go off talking to developers or looking at App solutions, can anyone tell me if Shopify’s Google & YouTube sales channel app passes conversion tracking data to Google Analytics, Ads and Merchant Centre. If so, do I still need what may just be a legacy Google conversion page script at all - because if I dont, then I could just publish the new Thank You and Order Status pages now and move on!

You should have no issues with the google and youtube app, however if you do, you can custom install conversion tracking for Google Ads using the guide below:

Emmanuel thanks - so just to be clear, you are saying that as I am using the Google & YouTube App in Shopify admin, I do not need any additional scripts to track conversions in Google Ads and Analytics?

@EmmanuelFlossie i had a WebDev assist me with the transition for the new checkout. Im on Shopify Basic.

Although i am getting sales and my google ads seems to be working. My tag fires on testing with Tag Assistant. I am not getting any data to my Key events on analytics. Its flat lined since the change over. The WebDev doesnt have an answer for me, so i was wondering if re-installing the Google & Youtube App would resolve this issue.

Noting:

We had tag manager installed prior to change.

Store historical data on Analytics, GTM, GAds is just over 7 years. but Webdev created new Events in Google Ads as he says its the only way to transition to the upgraded checkout.

Should i revert to old checkout?

Everything was going fine (till i broke it).

Would appreciate your feedback.

If you are using my code, there are some things you need to do, such as publish thank you page and order page.

Also upsell apps, will bug out the new checkout, so best to remove that for now.
