Hello everyone, can you help me ensure that the Translate & Adapt application consistently translates specific words the same way every time?
Topic summary
A user seeks to ensure consistent translation of specific words across their Shopify store using the Translate & Adapt app.
Key Points:
- The built-in Translate & Adapt app does not currently support custom glossaries or term consistency features
- Translation variations may occur because words can have different meanings depending on context
- Workaround suggested: Use a third-party app called Langwill, which offers a glossary feature that allows defining how specific terms should always be translated
- The glossary feature enables automatic application of predefined translations, ensuring brand consistency and reducing manual editing
Status: The issue remains unresolved with native Shopify tools, but an alternative solution has been proposed.
Hi, @Idjurovic . Do you have an example of a situation you are concerned about? I just want to make sure I’m understanding fully so we give you accurate advice.
Words would likely be translated the same way every time if you are just speaking about the word as is. However, words can take on multiple meanings depending on the context a word is said in so it’s possible a specific word may be translated differently depending on the sentence or phrase its said in. If you have some examples we may be able to look into this further. You can also learn more about the Translate & Adapt app here.
Hi! There,
Unfortunately, the Translate & Adapt app doesn’t currently support custom term consistency or glossary-based translation.
However, you can achieve this function using Langwill, which offers a glossary feature that lets you define how specific terms should always be translated.
Please check out this help doc to learn how to enable the glossary feature. Once it’s enabled, you’ll be able to see the glossary terms applied automatically during translation, ensuring brand consistency and saving time on manual edits. Below is an example for it.
Hope this helps!
