Transparent Product is not displaying transparent 3D/AR

I sell plastic bottles and my 3D models aren’t showing up with transparency. I’m using Blender, and a Principled BSDF, and alpha doesn’t seem to be affecting the model on Shopify. Is Shopify capable of showing a 3D model with some transparency? Any tips on what I need to do in Blender to the shader to make it work?

Absolutely, Shopify can display 3D models with transparency. Just ensure your model meets Shopify’s technical requirements,

To show a 3D model with transparency on Shopify, you’ll need to:

Use a theme that supports 3D models (like Craft, Crave, Dawn, or Sense).
Add the 3D model to your product’s media in the Shopify admin.
Ensure the model meets Shopify’s technical requirements, including being a GLB file and not exceeding 15MB.
The most important is the theme. Which theme are you using?

I’m using Testament by We Are Underground. The model is displaying and the AR view appears to be working, scaled properly and everything. I’m just not getting transparency. You think the theme could be not reading the alpha parameter of the shader? It seems smart enough to use a metallic map. I do know transparency can be difficult for some applications. Have you made any models with transparency that show properly on Shopify?

Ok, I figured out it was transmission, not alpha that controls transparency. Thanks.

Can you please help me as I am having a similar issue. Can you please tell me how did you fix this issue, and do your bottles appear correctly in AR?

Hi, you have to adjust the transmission parameter in Blender. If you need more help or want the link to see mine, email me at info at artanishome dot com. I’m probably going to remove it soon, because since adding the 3D my website speed stats don’t look so good.
