We started a new (pet products) dropshipping business six months ago. From the beginning, we have been struggling with product research and marketing strategy. We run a couple of ads on a test basis. But nothing worked much. We worked and improved pretty much with our web development. But we are not getting any organic sales (except one so far) from that. Can you suggest us how we can improve and do better with marketing strategy so that we can have sales?.
If you share your url people can give you some feedback.
Also if you want marketing strategy feedback, share exactly what you’ve done. For example, it’s impossible to gauge success based on “We run a couple of ads on a test basis”.
Couple examples to expand on that:
-
What platform were the ads? Social media ads will usually convert at a much lower rate than Google Shopping ads, for example
-
Who created the ads? Was it a professional marketer that has experience running A/B tests and a history of creating successful campaigns? Or did you make the ads based on data analysis, or just make some ads based on intution?
Organic sales are an excellent goal. To scale those you’ll want to invest in SEO, collaborations, create an affiliate program, etc… things that can get you links around the internet and referrals. Also don’t count out word of mouth marketing, it can be quite powerful. I used to run an ecommerce store where we planted trees on every sale. This led to a significant amount of word of mouth marketing (we knew because people mentioned it in reviews and surveys). The key was that we had a mission behind the product, so people weren’t just buying a product, they were contributing to a positive cause.
Hope that helps. Overall my advice is to always be experimenting, but make sure you are tracking your results so you can make data driven decisions. Also, hire a professional marketing for at least one month to get some traction and set up some campaigns.
