Hey, @Ricadia !
Julie here from Shopify Support.
First off, welcome to Shopify! It’s great to see that you’re taking advantage of our free trial.
How themes display menus really depends on the theme itself. For example, some themes, like Debut, offer a standard horizontal menu. Other themes, like Brooklyn, offer multiple menu styles; if your main menu takes up a lot of space, then the Brooklyn theme will automatically convert your menu to a sidebar menu that opens when you click a button in the header section.
Like Brooklyn, the Prestige theme also has two different menu styles, and this is likely why your menu looks different than the menu you saw in the theme demo. You can see the two menu styles directly within the theme editor, by heading to Online store > Themes > Customize > Sidebar menu**.** This is where you can select a main menu to display in your theme’s sidebar. A few sections below Sidebar menu, however, you’ll also notice Header. Within the Header section, you’ll be able to add another menu style — a mega-menu. According to the Prestige developers, their mega-menu allows to show dropdown menu in a more elaborate and visual way. You can learn more about this menu style here.
I hope this helps explain the differences in how certain themes display menus. However, if you need further support with your theme, I suggest reaching out to the developers directly. When it comes to third-party themes, the developers themselves are the best equipped to assist with their themes. We have more information on where to find support for your theme here.
Since you’re new to Shopify, I also wanted to pass along a few useful resources to help you make the most out of your trial period. First, I recommend checking out our Essential Shopify Store Launch Checklist. This is an excellent resource that will help you ensure you’ve completed every step necessary prior to launching. Once you’re ready to launch your online store and start selling, our guide, “How to Get Your First Sale in 30 Days: A Marketing Checklist for New Entrepreneurs”. There, you’ll learn about ways you can market your business and prepare for a successful store launch.
Again, I hope this clears things up. I’d also love to see your online store so far. Feel free to share your link here and I’d be happy to offer some feedback before you launch!
