Trying to send first test email newsletter - says no subscribers

I feel like this has got to be the most basic thing, but I can’t see what I’m doing wrong?

I am the only subscriber for my email newsletter as I am just testing it out. I used a template but I can’t send the email because it says there are no subscribers. So I click to go back to the Customers page…

Back in the customer list, I select the segment “email subscribers” in which it shows me as the 1 subscriber, valid segment, all that.

I click on “use segment” and select “send email” next to the Shopify email popup. But when it takes me back into the templates, it shows again (0) subscribers!

Please tell me what I’m doing wrong here.

Thank you, Gina! Shopify support was on this all yesterday and couldn’t figure it out, but your suggestion lead me to getting it working. The first email wasn’t my main one. I added the main one that I use for the account and it worked - but only for the main one, not the first email. Added a third email and now it works for that as well but still not the first. Don’t know if it’s because the first wasn’t my mail email but just glad it’s working now.

I’ve done more testing and can now confirm that the emails never arrive at whichever email account is listed first - at least in my case. I have reported this to Shopify.
