Can I turn credit cards off for in person purchasing but still accept debit cards?

This will depend on the payment gateway you are using for your in person sales. If you are using Shopify Payments, then you must have at least one credit card provider enabled to process transactions by card (debit or credit). This might be different if you are using a different gateway on your store though.
