Uk postage drop off issues

Topic summary

Main issue: A new UK Shopify merchant finds DPD’s Shopify-negotiated rates attractive but the service is “drop-off only,” which is impractical at scale.

  • Problem details: Drop-off locations, including Post Offices, refuse to accept more than a few parcels, forcing multiple trips to different sites. This makes daily business shipping volumes difficult to manage.
  • Constraint: The merchant wants to retain Shopify’s favorable DPD pricing and avoid setting up a separate DPD account, but the current drop-off limitations render the solution nearly unusable.
  • Context: DPD is a UK parcel courier; “drop-off only” means shipments must be physically handed in at designated locations rather than collected.
  • Request: Seeking advice or alternatives within Shopify Shipping that support larger parcel counts without losing cost advantages.
  • Status: No responses or decisions yet; the query is open and unresolved.

Hi,

Brand new to Shopify, so need some advice please.

Dpd in the uk, for my particular parcels, are very competitive through Shopify, which is great. However it is drop off only, which is fine I can do that, except at all the locations even post offices, if I turn up with more than a few parcels they refuse to take them, and I have to run a round several locations. I don’t want to set up my own account, as the one through Shopify is of course the best pricing, but it’s basically unusable and I haven’t even started yet really. Surely business sellers, which is Shopify whole schtick, are sending more than a handful of parcels a day.

All advice greatly received, thanks, Richardm
