Unable to change store currency

Good afternoon

I am unable to change my store’s currency.

being in Lebanon and considering the current situation with the Lebanese Lira I need to switch to USD

Can anyone assist?

Hi @flaneurofficiel ,
You can can change your store currency from Settings > Store details. In the Store currency section, select USD.
NOTE: you can only change the store currency if no orders have been placed on your store with the Lebanese currency. If your store has received orders in Lebanese currency then you need to contact shopify support to help you in changing your store currency.
Thanks

Hey, @flaneurofficiel ! Welcome to Shopify Community!

As mentioned by @kaalTechGeeks , if you’re unable to change your currency in your admin you may create a support ticket so we can change it in your behalf.

Please note that after you make your first sale, you’re unable to change the store currency as it has certain impacts on your store. These impacts are the following:

  • Reporting: The reporting in the Analytics page doesn’t factor in the difference between currencies. If you had $500 USD processed, that would show as $500 USD in reports. Let’s say the next day you switch to CAD, the report would still read as $500 USD for previous processing. Since $1 CAD is not equal to $1 USD, the reports in theory will be wrong going forward.
    • You may set a date range for the data you are reviewing as a workaround, to exclude any transactions that might have been processed in a different currency before the specific date of the currency change.
  • Product Pricing: Since the dollar amount between currencies is not the same, a product price’s value, could mean something different if the currency is adjusted and impact your margins. Refunds processed after a currency change will also be affected by the currency change. They will be processed in the new currency.
  • Apps: Some apps may have limitations when it comes to changing store currency.
  • Gift Cards: Gift cards with remaining balances in the old store currency will not work once the store currency of the store has been changed.
  • Shipping: Like the product prices, shipping rates for a store will maintain regardless of the currency and will not update automatically.
  • Currency rules: If you currently offer a currency as an option with manual exchange rates and rounding rules set up, those settings will be locked if you change it into your shop currency.
    • You’ll need to revert that currency back to automatic FX rates and no rounding rules before doing so.

The currency change will mainly impact these areas, however, it may also affect areas outside of what’s discussed if you have currency information elsewhere. You may want to review the other pages in your store to ensure they’re updated to reflect the new currency.

If you would still like to proceed, feel free to visit https://bit.ly/3cJkx8V to create a support ticket and request to have your currency changed.
