Community Input:
A third-party shipping app developer acknowledged that modifying shipment details should be fundamental functionality, noting that major carriers (UPS, FedEx, USPS) handle such changes routinely. They suggested using carrier accounts directly or alternative shipping applications for better control.

The issue remains unresolved with the merchant seeking urgent assistance.

I’ve been selling on Shopify for a couple months now, and for some reason, when I ran into an issue with a couple of labels, i had to void them to change the size the box. Then I get a red bar on top of my account saying that I am unable to purchase shipping labels due to them needing to verify my account, and it may take UP TO 24 hours.

Well, it’s been 60+ hours, going on 72 hours tomorrow, and I still cannot purchase labels or fulfill orders!

I’ve reached out via chat to Shopify Support, and have been given the run around each and every time. One advisor said it’s an issue amongst many Shopify stores. Then another says the accounts team has to verify and it’ll take 24 hours (this was Friday evening). Everyday, I’ve reached out to Shopify support and they just ‘escalate it to the accounts team’, but there is still NO RESOLUTION. I have gotten ZERO emails from Shopify regarding this. There is nothing in my settings that requires me to verify ANYTHING.

WHAT GIVES, Shopify? This is getting very frustrating. The recommendation to use a third party is beyond helpful. Shipstation is a nightmare, Shippo is far from decent.

I need a resolution, and don’t know where else to turn. HELP!

This isn’t an issue with the front end/customer site. This is an issue with the backend. Do you even work for Shopify? You’re a new member. I’m reporting you for fraud.

@Kvngsjames @PretzelGuy I understand that this may be a standard procedure from the Shopify side, however, it is a fundamental need for a shipper to be able to change shipping dimensions, edit package contents, create or void shipments, etc.

I have been working with Shipping Courier companies like UPS, FedEx, USPS, and many more for a long time. Even for them, this is fundamental to allow users to modify or allow these things. An issue like this shouldn’t take 3+ days to fix in the first place.

However frustrating this issue is, I would still recommend you at least try out shipping on your own using your account. It will give you a different point of view. Whether it is trying to negotiate shipping rates, processing shipments, or canceling shipping labels, carriers handle these issues in a better way since it is their expertise.

We have worked with lots of carriers to make sure Shopify business owners get complete control over shipments and have made sure these fundamental functionalities are available out of the box within our shipping application. I would recommend you try the app and see if you like having complete control over your shipping this way or not.
