Unable to customise theme: Download Chrome!

Trying to update the store homepage however greeted with the following screen/message.

Are you (Shopify) trying to tell me the only way I can work on the theme in the browser is using Chrome!? (Am using the latest version of Firefox.) Or is there some other back-end issue that isn’t showing on Shopify Status?

Edit:

Safari shows a different error (and doesn’t tell me to download Chrome.)

It looks like some of the settings > billing (etc) don’t work either…

If you are using the latest version of Firefox, then I think this is a temporary issue from Shopify. I believe they will update soon to allow to access the Admin from all major browsers.

I believe they updated this a long time ago as I have not had an issue accessing any part of the admin area from any of the major browsers.

I’m getting this too. Looks like a bug on their side. Regardless of browser. Flagging for support that the developer tools provide the following:

Update: This is now resolved for me (guessing internal Shopify thing.)

Hope this is the same for anyone else who has had an issue

i see.. thanks for the reply. but did you manage to work around this problem? i’m using firefox now and i can’t get my app to install because of this websocket issue. been trying for days.

I found no workaround. I didn’t look for one. I occupied myself doing something else for a period of time and when I next tried it worked.

thanks. seems like trying to work on Shopify is a crack shoot. sometimes it gets done, sometimes it doesn’t. been trying for days and still stuck.
