Unable to see Edit website SEO on product pages

We are trying to add the custom SEO meta titles & descriptions to the products/collection pages but are unable to see the ‘Edit website SEO’ button.

We are facing this issue on multiple accounts so, please suggest a solution. Even the autopilot is off from the Booster app.

Hello @teamwebbers

I would like to give you the recommendation to support you.

Looks like you don’t have permission to edit the product. You should re-check your permissions.

I hope the above is useful to you.
Best regards,

Thank you @GemPages ,

But please note that we encountered this issue only for products & collection pages. The SEO settings are working fine for the Home page, Static pages, and blog posts.

As stated before, we are facing this problem with few accounts.

Hello @teamwebbers ,

This is Gina from flareAI app helping Shopify merchants get $5Million+ in sales from Google Search, on autopilot.

There are a few potential reasons why you may not be seeing the “Edit website SEO” button in Shopify for your products and collection pages.

Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Check if the SEO section is enabled in your Shopify settings
Go to your Shopify admin dashboard, click on “Online Store” and then “Preferences”. Scroll down to the “Search engine listing preview” section, and make sure the toggle switch is turned on for “Show the SEO section in product and collection editors”.

  2. Verify that you have the correct permissions
Ensure that you have the necessary permissions to edit SEO settings. If you are not the account owner or have a restricted account, you may not be able to access the SEO section.

  3. Check if your theme supports custom SEO
Not all Shopify themes support custom SEO for products and collections. Check your theme documentation or reach out to your theme developer to see if this feature is supported.

  4. Clear your cache
Sometimes, the issue may be related to cache. Clear your browser cache and refresh the page to see if the button appears.

  5. Try disabling any relevant apps
Some Shopify apps, such as the Booster app you mentioned, may interfere with the SEO settings. Try disabling any relevant apps temporarily to see if this solves the problem.

Hope this helps

Gina

What specific permissions are needed to edit this meta description? I’m facing the same issue and am unable to edit this data (the link to edit meta description is not visible) on the specific product page.

Hi @teamwebbers ,

It seems like you’ve encountered a common issue that can arise due to various reasons, such as theme restrictions or app conflicts. Here’s a step-by-step approach to troubleshoot:

  • Verify user permissions in your Shopify admin to ensure you have the rights to edit SEO settings.
  • Check if the theme you’re using supports direct SEO edits or if there are theme-specific settings that need to be adjusted.
  • Clear your browser cache or try a different browser to rule out any local issues.
  • Disable any apps that might conflict with the SEO settings, particularly those that have control over your store’s metadata.

In the process of resolving this, you might also want to consider optimizing your SEO strategy further. Our app, SEOPro, can help by running a detailed SEO audit of your products and collections, identifying issues, and offering bulk optimization tools to efficiently update these SEO elements. It’s designed to be user-friendly and to complement your efforts in improving your store’s SEO.
