Understanding PPC and creating conversions

I have run my Shopify ecommerce page for nearly 2 years now and I am struggling to get converted sales. I sell the same products at the same and often higher prices on Ebay and Amazon with the same images and video and get a steady flow of orders. Whilst I appreciate Ebay and Amazon have a high volume of users I wonder if there is something wrong with my store presentation that is deterring converted sales.

I chose to use Shopify to try and get away from the ever growing costs on the big platforms. My problem is that I struggle to understand internet technology so things like SEO completely blow my mind.

To try and combat the disproportionate traffic between my store and the like of Ebay I have run numerous campaigns using Google Ads (PPC). That didn’t make a great deal of difference to the poor sales but did cost quite a lot in charges. Of course that could have been that my AQd campaign was flawed rather than the website. It is difficult for me to know but one thing is for certain, it didn’t work for me. That made me reluctant to try again. I feel that I am missing something or something is turning the buyers away. I don’t expect immediate free traffic so understand that driving traffic to the store will have a cost attached but was hopeful that it may be less than Ebay & Amazon charge. Maybe I am being a bit optimistic but having come this far and put so many hours work into the store I may as well explore any avenue.

Can you suggest where I might start to look at to try and improve traffic and conversion.

Thanks for your help.
