Does Shopify guarantee that after a subscription is accepted by the user that the app developers will get the subscription and the usage charges?
I know that the usage charges can go up to $10,000 so if the user cancels their card before billing this could be a huge problem. Also, we spend money for each usage charge so this could potentially be very expensive.
If Shopify guarantees the app developer gets paid this is no issue, however if they don’t what would be the best way to handle this situation?
In the event that a payment fails Shopify will reattempt the charge 3 times before freezing the store. Once the store is frozen merchants will not be able to access the admin, and their customers cannot access the storefront, until the merchants pay all outstanding charges. If a store, is frozen the recurring application charge will be frozen as well so there would be no payment made to the app developer.
